Approved: September 25, 1996

A parent or appropriate caregiver must remain with children ten years of age or younger at all times. Rocky River Public Library staff cannot be responsible for supervising unattended children.

If young children are left unattended at library closing, staff will attempt to telephone the children’s parents or guardians to pick them up. If a responsible person does not come for a child within a reasonable length of time, the Rocky River Police Department will be called to take custody of the child. Under no circumstances will staff take a child home.

Violators of the Unattended Children Policy may have their library privileges suspended.
