- Books, readalongs, books-on-tape or CD, compact discs, LeapFrog School House materials, magazines, puzzles, and CD-ROMs can be checked out on a teacher loan. Videos, DVDs and materials for personal use cannot. The limit per teacher loan is 75 items. The library may limit the number of materials on a specific subject because of high demand or community usage.
- Teacher loan cards are for teachers of grades 12 and under, including preschool teachers, childcare workers and others who work with children. Please register for a teacher loan card at the Circulation Desk.
- Teacher loan requests may be made in person or by phone.
- Because there are usually many items in a teacher loan, and because teacher loans require special processing, please pick up and return teacher loans inside the library at the Circulation Desk. Return teacher loan items in the teacher loan bag. Do not empty the bag to return items individually.
- Because of the large number of items in a teacher loan, the Circulation Department needs time to process the loan. Circulation cannot process teacher loans on Sundays, one of our busiest days. However, a teacher may request a teacher loan or choose items from the collection on a Sunday, and the library will have the loan ready for pick up on Monday. Loans may be may picked up on Sunday if the loan has been requested earlier in the week.
- The loan period for a teacher loan is 28 days. A teacher loan may be renewed once. Any item that has a reserve on it cannot be renewed. Please have your teacher loan library card number ready to ensure proper processing of your renewal.
- There are no fines on teacher loans but prompt return is appreciated so others may use the materials.
- Teachers are responsible for lost or damaged items that are checked out on their teacher loan cards.
- Reserved library materials are loaned in the order in which reserves were placed. Therefore, library materials cannot be reserved for a specific date.
- Circulation staff will hold the teacher loan for one week. If the teacher loan is not picked up, the items will be reshelved.
- Please notify the Circulation Desk if you change your school or grade.
- Student teachers must arrange with their classroom teacher to check out a teacher loan. A student teacher cannot be issued a teacher loan card.
